Sometimes the best designs aren't the most complicated ones. This backyard in Elk Grove is a perfect example - clean lines, simple materials, and a layout that just works. No clutter, no overthinking. Just a well-executed plan that delivers a yard people actually want to spend time in.

Here's what we were working with: a backyard that needed structure. The goal was to create defined zones without making the space feel busy. We went with fresh synthetic turf for the main lawn area, crisp concrete for the patio surface, and white dolomite rock to fill the perimeter. Three materials. One cohesive look.

The curved brick edging is what really ties it all together. Getting that arc right takes patience - each piece has to be set carefully to keep the line smooth and consistent. When it's done well, the curve feels natural. It guides your eye through the space without feeling forced.

The dolomite rock along the fence line does more than just look good. It keeps maintenance low, helps with drainage, and gives the yard a clean, finished edge that grass or mulch just can't match. Paired with the turf and concrete, the whole yard becomes almost effortless to take care of - which is exactly what most homeowners in Elk Grove are looking for.

Simple doesn't mean boring. It means intentional. When every element has a purpose and everything is installed with care, the result speaks for itself.
